Not so long ago, our ancestors lived in a world of imagined and justifiable fear. Particularly those who moved to the fringes of the wilderness and beyond. My family were among them in the settlement of the American West. It was a thread woven tightly in their everyday lives, not just a rare occasion. My family has letters from our forebears to their relations written in a matter of fact narrative to their families in the East, relating crop failures, droughts, etc.
Many Indian tribes were carrying on their wars in the 1870s, and the pioneers felt the backlash. But there were also those who approached the settlers with peaceful intentions. The difficulty was in knowing whether an Indian was friendly or not. And those that were friendly often were a little too curious about the wonderful objects the settlers had. It was not uncommon for an Indian to walk into a settler’s home uninvited and proceed to examine things. But Indians were only one of many fears the settlers had. Weather was a constant concern, and blizzards were not the least of nature’s dangers.
One woman recalled a beautiful January morning in Kansas. However, by noon the sky had darkened and by evening they were in the grip of a blizzard. The following morning, nothing could be seen but a drifted white landscape. To get to the barn they had to tie a rope to the backdoor and the other end to the barn. Until the snow stopped this was their only means of going between the two buildings without becoming hopelessly lost.
Range cattle froze to death. Within isolated homes ,fires burned day and night and still people froze if they ran out of fuel. And with the snow so deep replenishing dried cow dung called cow chips, the usual material used for fuel, was impossible.
Our lives today are comparitively insular, comfortable and secure. But beneath this apparently reliable technological veneer of manufactured entertainment, instant access to the internet, automobiles, medical care to name just afew, there is a instinctive sense that there is a unknown quality to our natural world that is unchanged however shielded we may be, that seems irrational, ambivilent, and rife with ambiguity.

Here's a story that blends well into the Halloween season that is almost upon us.
In Tappen, North Dakota a 16 year old boy says he saw creatured that are out of this world. On September 12th the boy got out of bed early in the morning and saw something moving in the pig lot on the farm. He thought it might be a coyote, so he took a gun, and went to check it out. When he got out there he saw two creatures.
The boy shot at the creatures, and he says one screamed. The other creature then threw the boy across the lot, ripping his shirt. the boys father Torrey says this experience has been traumatic to the boy, and didn't want news crews to come to their farm. Kidder County Sheriff Douglas Howard says when he got to the scene that night, he couldn't find tracks anywhere near the lot. Howard looked at a fence that was knocked down, where Torrey Briese says the creatures left with a pig.
The Sheriff couldn't find any evidence, and says the case is closed.
No evidence and the case is closed, paperwork filed in a neat manilla folder, and yet we all know that it is not. The young boy probably now looks out over the rangeland of the family farm as dusk descends with the same unsettled and wary instinctive feeling the early Western settlers had. You could just as easily expect the unexpected as you can the sun rising in the morning and a list of chores to be done.
I will show you something different from either your shadow at morning striding behind you or your shadow at evening rising to meet you. I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
TS Eliott The Wasteland
Entropy is the unknown that cannot be quantified. It denotes an increase in one area that cannot decrease except by an increase in the other. It is related to information only in that it is the absence of information. It measures how much is not known about a referenced state. Recognizing probability as a factor in entropy is necessary. We can agree that the number of disorderly states exceeds the number of orderly states … so if all you know is that the system is not in an orderly state, you know the entropy is high. In contrast, though, the important point is that if you know the system is in some specific disorderly state, the entropy is zero. If you know what state the system is in, it doesn’t matter whether that state “looks” disorderly or not.
“By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks!”
-W Shakespeare Macbeth
Have you ever experienced an event, a phenomenon that eludes any known explanation? I have. Let me tell you a bedtime story. Five years ago, I had just moved to a new home in a new state. I had just received telephone service. My house backs into a thick, dense wood that obscures it from view. These small details were reviewed in my search for an answer in our families encounter with a seemingly remote voice with an unaccountable ability to know to whom it was speaking.
The first was recorded in mid afternoon on my newly installed answering machine. The voice resembled the timbre and inflection of an elderly male.
He enthusiastically said "Hello!" Then he mused aloud " I wonder if I may be the one who sees through Netharious" (sp?).then a pause..then thoughtfully as he were deep in reflection the tone was one as if this person was contemplating the name and it's connotations, he softly repeated the name.."Netharious"..and then destainfully."The Great Wannabe".then, in a voice best described as simultaneously frantic he exclaimed "Okay!" Then a long pause ensued so long at first I thought that was the end of the message. Then it got stranger. Words cannot describe the timbre of the voice. At first I thought it was perhaps the tone was sardonic. My wife thought it had nothing to do with humor. He simply said...very slowly.. "ha.ha..ha. " With each repetition of "ha" the voice lowered in pitch and stretched as if it were spliced into the overall message artificially. My wife was understandably somewhat upset.
The next evening my son answered the phone at 2 am. A variety of loud electronic sounds mixed together in varying, modulating pitches that (as he mimicked
them) that sounded to me like the wireless data transfers I have heard. He could not provide a greeting when he picked up the phone since it was obvious this was a broadcasting signal of some sort, plus it temporarily took him aback. The instant it stopped a voice identical to that in the first message said " Give your father my regards." Then the transmission -call abruptly cut off. He was so excited he came into our bedroom to tell us. He was also somewhat frightened. How this voice knew it was my son answering the phone and not my wife or myself or my daughter is beyond me
especially since he never had the opportunity to speak or identify himself in this or any previous time..
“The unquestioning faith of primitive man, and perhaps of some people today, in a divine source is a thing which has become increasingly unreachable, incredible, unsupportable in the face of the powers existing in the modern world. But it is always there, faint and far away -- the unreal that is the ultimate reality. Yet when this ultimate somehow manifests, its very lack of sensible or rational expression creates fear and an implosion of irrelevant paraphernalia that protects us from fear but that obliterates the issue. We wish to put on skins, to clothe the unspeakable, to fill the vacuum.”
_Arthur M Young Fear of The Unknown
How thin is the membrane which separates us from the unknown, like the non existent clothing the king wore, much to the wiser laughter of children and to the denial of adults, an illusionary article of faith akin to whistling past the graveyard?
“In circumstances such as those described, the ambiguous situation is often associated with widespread anxiety, and the belief systems which arise characteristically contain elements of hysteria which may increase the likelihood of panic or other irrational action (see Smelser, 1963). New beliefs which are improvised to reduce the ambiguity often are assimilated into preexisting belief systems, such as the beliefs of religious cults, so that, in effect, the ambiguous situation is used to manufacture support for preexisting beliefs. Once a situation of competing belief systems is established, probably the only way to modify it very much is by attacking the conditions which brought it about -- that is, the lack of authoritative, trusted information.”
-Dr Robert Hall UFO Symposium
As I mentioned earlier it appears that entropy is related to information only in that it is the absence of information. It measures how much is not known about a referenced state.
Perhaps those who are at the forefront of the UFO situation are contemporary shaman with tokens of fact, riddles of conspiracy, antedotal reinforcements, grainy footage
and stacks of reports act as guardians in a defacto priesthood drawn to the edge of the camp where the wild things roam, at a certain psychological barrier to ensure it is not violated. Some have better built refuges than others, some of straw, some of wood and some of brick but all of us dread the big bad wolf.
Throwing salt over your shoulder, don't put shoes on a table, if your palms itch, money is coming your way and don't speak ill of the dead. This lexicon of ritual originated in the Old World as a bulwark and recognition that things go bump in the night, whether the workings of entropy do this in front of witnesses as a happenstance of time and place or merely an instinctual sensing of an unknown, mysterious and seemingly irrational sentient force aimed with ambiguity always floats beyond the comfort, security and artificial predictability of our technological house of brick. Perhaps it is both.
It is one thing to consider these things whilst the air conditioner hums, the television babbles on, the internet reliably places information at our fingertips, food awaits us in a refrigerator, the telephone awaits a call....and it is another to recognise these are props in a game of self comforting assurance that all is well, all things are known and in their place. As Gregory Bateson once observed, the concept of control is ultimately a pathological illusion. It is another thing to experience what lies behind the broken barrier at the end of the road.
Some of us delve deeply in exploring a past of unaccountable knowledge, from the dense jungles of South America, to the Pacific Islands and in the arid desert of Eygypt. Similar construction methods, a seemingly coherent planetary siting of structures within a grid of longitude and latitude are to be found. Existential clues in a game of origin that eludes our attempts to fathom our own history.
The same applies to the natural sciences of tradition in fossil finds of a presumed ancestor, revision after revision, crossed out theories litter the landscape hither and yonder. In many aspects akin to the stories told to children as a cultural tradition we are left with The Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and The Lone Ranger as illusionary precepts as to our own current theories of origin. Forced into a stance by a growing recognition that there may be problems without technological solutions, civilisations leaders hold their cards to their chest and bluffing, overly confident, poised at a precipice, with an underlying fear that is being debated more often in the light of day as to whether our fears are illusionary or foundational, in terms of the illusion of control they offer as a product, they dread the day when the cards are put on the table for all to see. Exposure is not a soft collapse nor a comforting experience. More often than not, there is a growing sense that our governmental leaders are more than fallible than we previously recognised, as well as the sciences which back them. Actions or more appropriately perhaps, answers speak louder than words.
Another aspect is the behavioral pathology of a certain type who can be found from time to time in a position of responsibility whether it is a political, coorporate or religious setting, as in cults. If confronting a growing crisis that induces fear, then fear itself may or may not become a tactic in of itself. In other words, this situation may breed an opportunity for those for whom the precept of control is akin to a sociopathic and psychotic prescription for success. Again, the topic is fear in an office setting. However, imagine this type as a powerful world leader. What is the ultimate expression of this behavior, is it warfare? Think of Adolph Hitler who utilised a perversion or perhaps the ultimate expression of darwinian theory applied by a psychopath, who utilised fear as a weapon of mass control, propaganda, and genocide. So when fear is lurking and building beneath the surface of a situation, as in the case of post WW1 Germany filled with the entropy of unemployment, extremely high inflation, depression, anxiety and self loathing...here comes the ultimate sociopath to the rescue. There is a warning in this, make no mistake about it. Should such a world situation arise once again, there will be those who will exploit it. Should anyone reading this happen to have an opportunity to view "Downfall", I highly recommend it. This account of Hitler's last days in his bunker are very accurate as the entire script was the result of a witness, Hitler's secretary, who recorded those events with precision. Even as the world fell around him, confined to a small underground suite of rooms, he exhibited a psychopathic delusion of control. His subordinates behavior is also fascinating in their willingness to believe in what every ounce of common sense told them, each time with a more jarring revelation of defeat, was a dark fantasy of a madman.
Here is the behavior of such a person:
Glibness/Superficial Charm. Language is used to confuse and convince their audience. Captivating invented stories, superficial self-confidence, they can spin a web of lies creating articifial reality. Very good in verbal confrontations, well trained to destroy their critics verbally or emotionally.
Manipulative and Conning. Never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They dominate and humiliate their victims converting them into office slaves.
Grandiose Sense of Self. Feels entitled to certain things as "their right." Craves adulation and attendance. Creates an us-versus-them mentality.
Pathological Lying. Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and able to pass lie detector tests.
Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt. A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.
Shallow Emotions. When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion, it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.
Dominating and expect unconditional surrender. they are very harsh in testing it from their devotees and expect them to feel guilt for their failings. Expects unconditional surrender.
Need for Stimulation. Corporate psychopaths are not necessary living on the edge like regular criminals, yet they like testing subordinates reactions with bizarre rules, punishments and behaviors. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Verbal conflict is what replaces for them sexual life.
Callousness/Lack of Empathy. Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them. Their skills are used to exploit, abuse and exert power. Since most normal IT professionals cannot believe their boss would callously hurt them, they rationalize the behavior as necessary for their (or the group's) "good" and deny the abuse. When you became aware of the exploitation it really looks like "office rape" and corresponds to the behavior of serial rapist.
Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature. Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Try to instill the belief that they are well-connected. Demonstrate no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.
Lets look at the psychology of fear in a legal setting as it relates to the lack of a striong integrated self image.
An experimental study tested the effect of fear appeals on the processing and acceptance of action recommendations. Based on assumptions from a motivated information processing perspective and self-integrity theory, it was postulated that that the effects of fear appeals on persuasion are mediated by a motivation to restore the integrity of the self, and not by perceptions of threat, or the emotion of fear, related to one’s health. A 2 (vulnerability: hi, lo) x 2 (self-affirmation: hi, lo) x 2 (argument quality: weak, strong) factorial design was employed to test predictions. Results were in accordance with hypotheses. It was found that increases in vulnerability induced an overly positive perception of action recommendations, and increased persuasion regardless of the quality of the arguments in the recommendation. However, intention and actions to engage in the recommended action dissipated when participants had been given the opportunity to affirm the self.
Many times as I go about my errands, my eye glimpses a circling hawk, held in the air, its natural habitat, suspended by the updrafts which arise from the ground. Here and there, similarly engaged people such as myself see creatures of the sky who hover, fly in formation as if searching, as if surveying, as if measuring some unattributable aspect of what lies below them. They are creatures of camoflauge, of tactical poise assurred in the arts of misdirection, paradox and stealth. These we call UFOs.
The hawk has great courage in a small body; its determination arms it better than its claws do. It is called a robber bird because it greedily snatches food from other birds. The hawk is known as a harsh parent, refusing to feed its young when they are able to fly, but rather beating them with its wings to drive them out of the nest. This is done to teach them to catch prey while they are still young, so that they will not become lazy when they are adults. There are two kinds of hawks: wild hawks, which catch and eat domestic birds; and tame hawks, which return the wild birds they catch to their master. Much like mutilated cattle, much like a mirror image of experimentation below them..masters of mimicry. We ask ourselves, why do they wait, why do they avoid us..what is, if anything, will signal their final descent...These creatures of the sky intentionally demonstrate their capability to invade military installations or airports, all the while waiting...waiting...Fear of preditation, fear of the unreal just beyond the layer of technological shelter, of reliance on it's predictability and hence the sheltered security we assume is ours as a possession. However, something defys that, does it not?
In this looking back at our history for clues as to what or whom we are, we are left in a situation wherein we climb, measure and quantify the bones of history found in ruins that reminds me of a E. A Robinson poem, "The House On The Hill." It could easily also be the desciption of our large urban areas as seen in a future yet to unfold. Or it could be a metaphor for ourselves, our world as an engima and yet when we are drawn into an empirical search, outside of our collection of facts, we find the cupboard empty.
"They are all gone away,
The House is shut and still,
There is nothing more to say.
Through broken walls and gray
The winds blow bleak and shrill:
They are all gone away.
Nor is there one to-day
To speak them good or ill:
There is nothing more to say.
Why is it then we stray
Around the sunken sill?
They are all gone away,
And our poor fancy-play
For them is wasted skill:
There is nothing more to say.
There is ruin and decay
In the House on the Hill:
They are all gone away,
There is nothing more to say."
In Part Two, we will go deeper into this dark and penetrate the shadows of fear and perhaps its origin in relation to entropy, when considering the UFO situation. We will also explore Islamic tradition and the very specific variant of a set of predictions....not vague metaphors. We will see that for a few, time is counted.

Bruce: My dad's a lawyer so I can relate to your latest post. Fear is the kidney energy (coffee drinkers) -- nothing less, nothing more. The full-lotus transforms the lower emotions -- worry is pancreas, overexcitement is lust as heart energy, sadness is lung energy (smokers), anger is liver energy (drunks).
A great book on this is "The Paper Economy" by David T. Bazelon. Fear-induced belief systems based on the law started with Plato which is why the Straussians of the NeoCons still rely on Plato.
Plato tied the law to technology and the first corporate charter law occurred in Italy as an extension of Papal canon law. The corporate charter law was then transferred to the aristocracy and finally the bourgeoisie -- in the U.S.
Nevertheless the judicial system relies on the concept that corporations are legally people, protected by the bill of rights, and citizens do not have sovereignty while on corporate property. This was extended globally through the W.T.O. (and yes I was in Seattle protesting when the rubber bullets starting flying).
I talked to Al Gore for a half hour when he was running for president in 2000. My hoodlum buddies protested his family's reliance on Oxy Petroleum which is ravaging the indigenous protected ecologies of South America -- the greatest diversity on the planet. Gore admitted that even though he was Vice President he could not change his own stock portfolio -- it's controlled by the corporate lawyer. The same is true for the Rockefellers -- a family member would have to file a lawsuit to change their stocks.
But the corporate lawyer just invests with the fiduciary "responsibility" to maximize profits and so the technology is really in control. The Pentagon turns to John Wheeler when they want a new doomsday bomb but John Wheeler doesn't know what's going on.
He didn't respond to my email after I read his biography. Science feeds the spirits of the dead who are pissed they got sacrificed by early scientists.
Science is the ultimate belief system of apocalyptic culture.
Hi
I think the ultimate exemplar of fear, the manipulation of it, and the illusion of control in varying degrees exhibited in propaganda, in demonizing the "other," and so forth rationalised and cleverly disguised as patriotism for mass conformity to an utimately psychopathic goal was whomever and whatever was Adolph Hitler. My grandfathers relation in Germany as a police officer attempted to thwart these efforts at every opportunity he was given. As far as legalisms and corporations are concerned as well as their origins, I think it is apt to say everyone is responsible for our world, therefore no one is. I do not want to stereotype those individuals in corporations from a judgemental point of view. I have seen folks with admirable values in awful situations, whether they are of their own choosing or otherwise, is often beside the point. I happen to be an geared toward the positive, although you would never gather this from the posting you are responding to.
I think confronting and bringing fear out of our closets so to speak assists in examining our own behaviors toward the unknown, particularly our reactions to it. I include my own in this. My heart goes out to those who have, through none of their own choosing experience the paranormal. They are in a difficult position whether the cause is illusionary or unknown, the result is the same.Fear of ridicule, isolation and so forth in varying degrees. I am haunted by that boy out in Dakota on that farm and what occurred that night. I am glad his father sheltered him from the press. I have mostly given up on television and infotainment for that reason. In a word, exploitation as a profitable corporate exercise.
Hi Bruce: Here's an excellent book on the relation between corporate law and genocide. The U.S. secretary of state, Robert Lansing, actually set up the legal framework that enabled the Nazi genocide to take place, based on the Germans using Armenian slave labor to build a railroad for the Turks.
http://www.booksamillion.com/ncom/books?pid=1567510620&ad=FGLBKS
This book, by professor Christopher Simpson, has caused a shock to the international community but at least they didn't ignore it like his previous book "Blowback" detailing the U.S. recruitment of over 1,200 Nazi scientists and S.S. officials.
Professor Christopher Simpson's work is strongly supported by Noam Chomsky but even Kevin Phillip's best-selling "American Dynasty" book on the secrets of the Bush regime details how both the Soviets and the Nazis were backed by Wall St.
I am familiar with the Rat Line, Odessa Organisation, OSS etc. I am also aware of the financing communities investments with the Nazi government based on strong financial results as well as the Swiss laundering involvement. The murder of Hess in Spandau by M5,to bury identification of royal and titled involvement with Hess, Churchill's shadowing of the Duke of Windsor and other closet Nazis. All of these are a tangled mess. However, these are not directly related to the subject at hand, although there is enough moral ambiguity to fill several volumes, it would blur an already dense topic further, in regard to the subject at hand, UFOs
Cool. I recommend "The Stargate Conspiracy" by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince. It's about aliens, UFOs, the CIA and the Nazis -- but focuses on the CIA's ties to Freemasonry and the CIA's promotion of aliens. The book hasn't gotten much attention since the CIA hacked the stargate conspiracy website.
I am familiar with the Stargate scenario as well as others which have incorporate a unified field theory of conspiracy. My own personal view, which is always subject to change, is that these are largely embellishments of bits and pieces that are usually ham fisted in their threading of these bits into a coherent view. Whenever someone approaches me with any material having to do with intelligence operations, I avoid it like the plague.
Your telephone call also reminded me of the “Stargate Conspiracy” a book that i read through and then again. It was Jack Sarfatti's (spelling?) phone call and the startling info that many physicists and other scientists are in contact with extraterrestrials.
Yes, I can agree with the poster that science is “The abomination that makes desolate”. We are so embroiled within it that it's become impossible not to consult science before making any decision. And this, I feel is THE problem. The wisdom of the ages is eroded day by day until we don't have any idea who we are or what we are supposed to be and why. The rat race was born of this atmosphere.
Hi Bruce
I find your telephone calls interesting and I wondered if you had any serious problems at the time and didn't connect them with the incident. I'm writing in answer to your request for any unusual occurrences.
The reason that I am asking is because we had some bad incidents at the end of 2004 into 2005 and beyond. Just general mayhem basically – everything went awry – just complete cosmic madness generally. My wife became quite ill as a consequence. Thinking back there were some very strange happenings also including the electrical problems.
We had some huge electricity bills for no apparent reason and new electrical equipment would just blow-up. It started with the TV blowing a fuse and the engineer could find no fault. Telephones would last for only a few weeks and the handset batteries would sometimes last only a few days, a new freezer blew-up, light bulbs would last only a few days and so on.
I complained continuously and eventually the power company came and did extensive repairs to poles and power lines, replacing much of the old equipment. A week or so later I was sitting at my computer at about 11:00 pm when there was an explosion outside. I could find nothing at the time in the dark, but next mourning I noticed that one of the new power-lines feeding the new transformer had literally melted and was hanging down. More visits from power workers and I even got the house wiring checked out, to no avail. No fault was ever found and amazingly none of the neighbours had a problem. The problem seemed to taper off recently and now there's not a problem at all.
I've found several articles in back issues of Fortean Times and others seem to be having similar “electrical miasmas”, not unknown apparently.
Thinking about this as a Fortean phenomenon – maybe some kind of poltergeist - the connection with our state of mind at the time is more complex than is usually given credit. I would say that the strain on us at the time lead to a kind of negative knock-on effect. We seemed to have been singled out for chaos for whatever reason.
There were other strange events at the time if it interests anyone.
Also, I've been looking at the so called Phantom Aircraft today and wondering how these fit into existing theories about UFO's and wondering if they are considered to be UFO's – I suppose they must. There are some interesting examples here: Phantom Plane Crashes http://paranormal.about.com/library/weekly/aa062899.htm
– and many in the North of England Pennine area, usually WW2 bombers with plenty of evidence that no such plane was in the area at the time. Many of these don't crash, but fly silently and very low overhead. There are incidents of aircrew being seen in WW2 flying gear and all of the classic UFO formula with outdated and obsolete aircraft.
Hi Al
I would like to hear more of your experiences. You mentioned that you felt that an emotional state or an associated state may have a feedback or amplifying effect on paranormal events but you didnt mention what general state you were in just prior to these events appearing and then escalting. I would like to know this as well as the other things you mentioned that you could share.
As for myself, my family and relations could tell you I am pretty unflappable, and I am usually the one to remain calm in a crisis. At least thats what they tell me. There was nothing negative or stressful happening at the time. It came and then went in a matter of 24 hours. Those two events happened about five years ago. We have our television, surround sound, CD, DVD etc all plugged into an central stans alone amplifier. All components are seperately switched. We have had since the initial incident, all of the components turn themselves on and then off several times. This was primarily when I was away on business and my wife experienced the bulk of them.
She, off course thinks this is very odd, but is not upset when this happens. About six years ago, which was a year prior to moving to our new home, the events were so odd and frequent that I took detailed notes. This seperate set of events took began one night at about 11pm, I was working on the computer in our family room. One light was on were I was working, and everything else was shut down for the night. The sound amplifier turned itself on with a loud hum as though there was leakage through a loose connection ( there wasnt, but that's what it sounded like). A great deal of static was heard much like when you are tuning between stations on a radio band. A somewhat odd sounding voice which would be very difficult for me to describe accurately although in a vague sense it sounded by the lack of inflection, somewhat mechanical.. or robotic is perhaps a more accurate term. The words were garbled. When whatever or whomever was done with their unintelligle "broadcast", the amplifier shut itself off. When the interval of shock wore off in afew minutes, I honestly had a difficult time accepting something happened although it had just happened moments ago. Then I bacame mildly irritated and thought, "Well,if you were going to that much trouble to reach me you could have at minimum have made a better effort to make your comunication intelligible."
The previous night, same scenario although closer to midnight as I was working to finish a report.
Five distinct similar equidistant tones came again from my amplifier speakers..I said to myself this is just not happening I need to see if I am just getting abit too weirded out and I am projecting some meaning into this random noise as odd as it sounded. So, I said aloud ( as if I assumed that made it clearer somehow) Alright, if this is you playing tricks on me, do it again. I felt ridiculous.
Again, five equidistant tones all at the same pitch. This was quickly becoming surrealistic. So right after the last tone I looked at the second hand of my watch as it occurred to me one way to self verify some portion of this would be to time their intervals to assure myself this was not random. Fifteen seconds elapsed...another five tones...another fifteen seconds...another five tones and then it stopped. I was and am completely bewildered and have no theories to offer. That happened about one year prior to the two odd messages on my voice machine. I am skeptical but open minded about this. These events did happen, I have derived no great insight from all this with the exception an observation that it has an increasing clarity and evolution of form, from tones to garbled voice to voice.
These "what have you" are unintelligible and meaningless but the only effect is that this phenomenon appears to seek, is my attention, and then vanishes.
I am not particularly interested in them or seek them or fear them. They are whatever they are.
This past Saturday night, my daughter was home and fell asleep on the couch with the tv on. There was some moonlight, it was quiet. At 1am or so our cat began to moan with the moan of aggressive defense. If you have a cat perhaps this description makes sense. My daughter saw a approx three foot high figure crouching at the window. It then stood up momentarily at approximately six foot and then sulked off back in a "all fours" position to the south. At 2am it returned. same reaction from cat. Same crouch same standing behavior. This time it tapped several times on the window before leaving. She is like me and thought this was very odd, perhaps it was a bear although we are not in either a recognised or expanded range. She told both of us the following morning with"you wont believe what happened..." Later that day, I remembered I had watered the lawn the afternoon before this incident and looked at the grass for any matting..it was bent down as if something was skidded along from north to south. Later that night my son came by and we were on the patio and I was recounting these events to him. Suddenly it dawned on me that there may be prints or smears on the windows. I went back into the house for a flashlight. There were prints but they did not resemble bear prints. I measured them as if that would tell me something, it was a silly exercise in one sense.
There are three digits, the center being the longest from the palm at three inches. The prints do not appear to have dermal ridges, although I dont have a magnifying glass. They are probably still there as I write this. I think it could have been an out of place bear. How many animals can stand upright? Your guess is as good as mine.
A Note To Rich
I am writing this in appreciation of your taking the time to comment. However your comments in this specific post degenerated into a long sometines unintelligible rant on the meaninglessness of life which you have expressed several times before. As moderator, I decided not to publish this comment. If you care to put it in a more coherent form in the context of this subject matter, I will be glad to publish it.
Hi,
I don't find an email address, but wanted to let you know that I did write a rather comprehensive response to you on the UFO Iconoclast blog but they have not published it. I see why from reading their most recent "take" on Vallee. Never mind, I'll be writing an article about the entire exchange on my own blog.
The plague actually originates as an intelligence operation -- to double the cube exactly for ritual sacrifice technology, as requested by the Delphi Oracle.

If you read former CDC director Joe McCormick's book on plagues he states that they come from "urbanization."
Hi Bruce
Your electronic messages are fascinating, but not untypical. I recall that John Keel has something like this in his Mothman; their only purpose (if this is the right word or concept)/effect being to unsettle and cause fear and confusion. I tend to imagine the perpetrators as being totally unlike us in that they are emotionless in our sense of the word. They probably have something akin to emotion, but there is no analogue in earthly nature. Imagine, if you will, an entity that has no hunger or thirst. Has no need for wealth in our terms and you may start to imagine my drift. We tend to classify all things in terms of our own geocentricism.
The motive, and there must be one, is totally alien to our thinking.
Our scientism will reject the above couple of sentences because there is no point of reference and the lack of answers is due to being stuck in “the box” and the usual circular argument ensues.
Hamlets Mill takes us off the earth and into the stellar realm and I fear that this is not going far enough – I've not finished reading the book yet.
Your enquiry about our emotions at the time of the “trouble” is difficult.
We had lost just about everything imaginable, both material, financial and our family. I never, in my wildest dreams/nightmares imagined that such absolutes were possible. Added to this, I found that there was no way out. Having always had some sort of solution to all of our problems in the past, I found that any kind of escape from the situation was impossible – a brick wall in every direction. As an engineer and always being called upon as the problem solver, you may be able to imagine my dismay. I was the one who could think outside of the box when the manual was found wanting and others had given up.
For the first time in my life I had to admit that I was totally beaten by a problem and the wholly inappropriate corse of action was to give up. As it turned out this was what I needed to do and this was the answer that had evaded me. If you don't think that this was difficult, I can tell you that it was the most difficult thing I have ever done. Just try giving up on all of your hopes and aspirations, your life's work and everything that you had worked so hard for, all of your preconceptions and ideals? I have worded this badly, because they were all 'taken' away and it must have been acceptance and resignation. My reaction to this was complete and utter exhaustion.
I have taken on a kind of benign quasi-nihilism and a strange almost unconscious inner search for what can only be described as spirituality. I find this impossible to put into adequate words and it's result is probably reflected in my posts.
Hi Bruce, yes my post was indeed a little unintelligible and actually poked fun at things at times in a seemingly mean way...but it was not meant to be mean at all. More sarcasm. I did "switch persons" a few times so this also probably was very confusing. I was just brainstorming basically and writing it down with some editing done as I wrote it.
By the way, I read all the comments here (still did not read your newest post though) and find the "strange happenings" quite interesting. Obviously I am not sure how this place (us) works but here are some things I think (subject to change of course but NOT OF MY OWN FREE WILL):
1) There is no free will. Not even a little! I know many will find this extremely hard to fathom (and it is ok, life goes on) but to me IT IS A FACT...I HAVE NO DOUBT!! I won't argue it out here because it can become quite tedious and much, much too long. A loop of crap...like the world/us.
2) Everything, including us, is some sort of complex "aware adaptable software" for lack of better words. EVERYTHING having varying degrees of awareness. Even the chunks of ice out in space have an "awareness." I say this without knowing exactly what awareness is or even why there are chunks of ice or anything "floating out in space."
Ultimately EVERYTHING is just creations of the software to advance some sort of agenda for itself or if there is someone/something running it...then for itself.
3) Everything is fundamentally equal. Getting bashed in the head or your kid getting run over by a school bus is equal to a supernova or the rocks on a moutain...just bits and pieces OF ADAPTABLE CODE doing whatever it is they are doing...following AN UNKNOWN AGENDA....some bits of code being more complex than others...that is all! Everything being quite expendable.
4) It created/introduced rules/morality, hot, cold, up, down, etc, etc we follow to create some sort of "order" for UNKNOWN REASONS...not for any particular individual or even for us as a species. Just following its AGENDA (if there actually is one). Does it even know what the agenda is???...I don't know. I guess not because we don't know it (we are it) and if it did know, would it be kind enough to tell us??? Have to rely on the other higher awareness bits of code for "answers"....ufos, aliens, monks, lotus position...??? Whatever...it means nothing for me as an individual regardless of it all...ALL just meaningless crap. The cure for cancer today is meangless for the cancer patient who died yesterday...WHAT DOES THIS TELL YOU? Meaning is relative and probabilistic, like everything else...for us...just not IT....NOT IT...whatever IT ultimately is!
5) There is no "good or evil" or "right and wrong." Don't steal, screw your neighbor, say bad words, etc, etc, etc but if your kid gets run over by a car that is ok....code is code is code...to change itself it would have to be rewritten from the software called MICROSOFT WORLD to LIVING/AWARE/FEELING WORLD otherwise known as RICH'S WORLD....it would have to kill itself....or the jerk running it would have to wake up and ACTUALLY care. Somebody wake the asshole up and let us make it care! I doubt this because evidence....being the untold amounts of life that has "come and gone" and it still is the same ole crap. If I commit suicide does all the horrors of the world disappear??? No! Other parts of code may not know this and may need suicide intervention...hahaha. Free will...right! Wrong!
6) If everything is determined why would it/or whoever or whatever NOT see ahead and realize there would be problems? I don't know but here are some thoughts without much attention to the science of it all of course:
a) Everything was/is fundamentally determined it is just that it got a point where it doesn't know how to fix itself without upsetting itself! Complication can be beautiful except when you got to fix it and you, yourself, are the complication. We, ourselves, are the mirror of this problem...we are parts of THE CODE...right!! Ever try fixing yourself???? Now you might say AHA, GOT YA, I GOT YA, there is at least some free will!! Again, it would be hard to argue this out here but needless to say...your agendas and the completion of them and the feelings of control are an illusion...hard to swallow I know....especially those enjoying themselves right now...but just for a second think about the world around you and how hard it is to swallow...that might help! Or just continue enjoying yourself or whatever you are doing...it REALLY doesn't matter! It really doesn't. The only things that matter are what the software DICTATES!!
b) The software or whatever/whoever created it ONLY cares about itself....it has its own agenda and we are just tools at best. I doubt the software though because we are parts of the software and we care (some of us anyway)...it would have to be something outside the software. The asshole!
7) When we think programming we think binary (1/0, on/off) but this place (us) most probably operates using some other "code," manifesting itself as whatever exists! This makes sense...RIGHT! Just like a child getting his head crushed by the wheel of a school bus....RIGHT! Hey [me as the software talking], you gotta give me credit for trying to make sense of it all for you! Maybe I can get the aliens to give you a better reason! Code is a code is a code is a code is a code. Bet you still think you control at least a little bit of things around you...you are too funny!
Ok, "back to me talking."
8) The physical/spiritual or whatever we can come up with about the world (and us) is basically a fraud. EVERYTHING IS FED TO US, INCLUDING US OURSELVES! Again, we and EVERYTHING are ONLY bits of "code," whatever the code may ultimately be....? It runs us and we run it...feedback loop of some sort over WHICH WE DO NOT CONTROL!...let me state this again....WE DO NOT CONTROL....again....WE DO NOT CONTROL....again....WE DO NOT CONTROL. Should I say this again?
9) The ideas, discoveries, etc, etc, etc, either already existing within the software itself and/or being allowed in somehow from "somewhere else??" Our discoveries, ideas, thoughts, etc, etc being nothing more than whatever it is following an unrecognizable agenda of some sort...why is it an unrecognizable agenda??....because you, me, and EVERYTHING are the code...and the code does WHATEVER IT WANTS/or whatever runs it does whatever IT wants....not what you, me or I want...hell we didn't even want anything until WE WERE MADE TO APPEAR HERE...RIGHT!...RIGHT!...I bet though you might still believe you control things...hahaha...you are too, too funny...just too funny!
10) The Ten Commandments
Shut up software...BAD software...BAD, BAD, BAD, software! Oh, wait there is no bad. Just IT. Hell, there really is no me. There is no m. There is no. There is n. There is. There i. There. Ther. The. Th. T. .
Hi Laura,
I look forward to your response inasmuch as I thought your points were well taken in terms of refuting the defacto assumptions of the blog. I think they did too. Where I was missing the point as it were, was in attempting to grasp what your views were. You are always welcome here. I just checked at 11:30 PM EST and it has not been publishes. However we all try to wedge in time for this moderation and writing in on our spare time..I will try later on.
Hi Al,
I also had a similar experience at a very young age. Mine originated with a death in the family.
If it is of any comfort, you are far from being alone in this sense of loss akin to mouring, when our cherished buffers and self comforting crutches are kicked out from under us. However, as you have and many others have found, myself included. the search for the truth is fraught with very real perils, but is worth the cost of admission. As Gurdjieff used to say, you have to know a great deal to know a very little. When I look backward in time, as I am sure you have, in a sense we have been compensated as the world has become a much more interesting adventure. I dont think, if given the choice, I would go back to the person I used to be before this adventure began.
Hi Rich,
Thanks for reposting. I see your situation and your operating theory much clearer now. However, my own view is that we are co-creators or, if you will, are pro active in the programing of our own individuated software and that the intellect is only one of the gifts we have been provided and like all else, it has its limitations. Have you ever looked into the study of the enneagram? I have a link to it. It brings a deeper insight, at least to me, on what Thy will shall be done on nearth as it is in heaven...actually means in terms of intelligent design.
CONTROL!...let me state this again....WE DO NOT CONTROL....again....WE DO NOT CONTROL....again....WE DO NOT CONTROL. Should I say this again?
Hi Rich
I'm glad to see that you know what the question is, even though you have it in reverse.
The denial of free will is the basis of THE BIG LIE which in your case is NO CONTROL.
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” (replace “State” with any word you chose)
Joseph Goebbels quotes
http://en.thinkexist.com
Once you start to acknowledge the lie, then control becomes unimportant, because you are no longer “under control”. You can control what goes on in your head.
If you want a scientific logical analysis of this then the “child under the bus” is a circular argument in that it assumes that the world or the bus or the driver or the programmer/god are bad. The world, bus, programmer are neutral and good and bad in this case are relative terms used by us to make some sort of arbitrary judgement based on our own agenda.
It is the “free will choices” that you make that are important, for example: to be happy in any given situation is theoretically possible, a choice that costs nothing and requires very little effort to maintain apart from the constant renewal of “the choice”. What is there to control and why would we want to control whatever it is? It's the lie that's telling you that the choice is impossible and that you have no control because something is bad.
