The Emergence of Time and Myth

"Most ingenious Theuth," said the god and king Thamus, "one man has the ability to beget arts, but the ability to judge of their usefulness or harmfulness to their users belongs to another; and now you, who are the father of letters, have been led by your affection to ascribe to them a power the opposite of that which they really possess. For this invention will produce forgetfulness in the minds of those who learn to use it, because they will not practise their memory. Their trust in writing, produced by external characters which are no part of themselves, will discourage the use of their own memory within them. You have invented an elixir not of memory, but of reminding; and you offer your pupils the appearance of wisdom, not true wisdom, for they will read many things without instruction and will therefore seem to know many things, when they are for the most part ignorant and hard to get along with, since they are not wise, but only appear wise."
-Plato

The seasons of man to some is a science. We are referring to man's exoteric structure in the formation of paradigms, which, in turn manifest as civilisations.
Accordingly we are certainly, by any account, in an age of transition. According to the Hindu tradition of cosmology, we are now nearing the end of the Kali Yuga (the Age of Iron) which is the final and most negative of four evolutionary Yugic cycles.

"Each Yuga is like the season of a super-cosmic year, even greater
than the cosmic year of the precession of the equinoxes. When the
Earth came into its current phase of manifestation and the first
Yuga began ('Satya' Yuga, meaning 'Purity') humanity was barely
removed from its original state of God-like innocence. This was
the original Golden Age. As time progressed the planet underwent
the influence of a negative descending spiral, and the quality of
life in each successive Yuga became further and further removed
from the knowledge of truth and natural Law (in other words,
'Reality'). In the second, Treta Yuga (Silver Age) spiritual
awareness decreased by one fourth and by the time of Dvapara Yuga
(Copper Age) negativity had a 50% holding. In the Kali Yuga the
vibration has become pretty murky and humanity is labouring
against heavy odds. Righteousness (right-use-ness) has diminished
to scant one fourth of its original strength. Throughout our
current history we have created and been assailed by all the evils
of Pandora's box. No wonder the human race is having such a
difficult time. But the turning point has now arrived, and the
dawn once more sheds its light on a confused and ignorant planet."
-Rene Guenon
G.I Gurdjieff also weighed in on this cycle, although he was rather more specific.

For those of you unfamiliar with this Hindu system, what is interesting is the alchemical use of the qualities of metal to describe psychic states or if you will, more directly, consensus reality versus the inexhaustable potentiality sealed within us. This tension is self evident.

"For the vision that a being has of himself in himself is not the same as that which another reality procures for him, and which he uses for himself as a mirror: in this he manifests himself to his self in the form which results from the 'place' of the vision; this would not exist without the 'plane of reflection' and the ray which is reflected therein.
God first created the entire world as something amorphous and without grace, comparable to a mirror not yet polished but it is a rule in the Divine activity to prepare no 'place' without it receiving a Divine spirit as is explained by the blowing of the Divine spirit into Adam and this is none other (from a complementary point of view to the former), than the actualization of the aptitude which such a form possesses, having already the predisposition for it, to receive the inexhaustible effusion of the essential revelation"
-Ibn Al arabi

We then are, accordingly, in an age where the recognition of the subtle has gone out of the window, whether it is the rise of fundamentalism, popular culture or the political stategies of nation states...iron is a dense material and very difficult to work with, as it were.

Mythology-The word mythology[1] refers to a body of myths/stories that a particular culture believes to be true and that use the supernatural to interpret natural events and to explain the nature of the universe and humanity. Mythology also refers to the branch of knowledge dealing with the collection, study and interpretation of myths, also known as mythography.

"How did structures appear that weren't there before? Neither Platonists nor Aristotelians had any problem with this question. The Platonists said that the form comes from the Platonic archetype: if there is an oak tree, then there is an archetypal form of an oak tree, and all actual oak trees are simply reflections of this archetype. Since this archetype is beyond space and time, there is no need to have it embedded in the physical form of the acorn. The Aristotelians said that every species has its own kind of soul, and the soul is the form of the body. The body is in the soul, not the soul in the body. The soul is the form of the body and is around the body and contains the goal of development (which is formally called entelechy). An oak tree soul contains the eventual oak tree."
-Rupert Sheldrake

One could consider the emergence of anomalous flying objects a projection, an emblematic symbol projected, from our limited understanding of time, backward from a point of origin, in terms of spacial relations, ahead of our own latitude and longitude and representing a subtle influence, creating what we could term a living mythology.
This emblem changes, but whatever image wobbles, transforms and provokes us seems to have only one common denominator...what we call a "future." This is the symbolics of flying wings, airships, saucers and countless other manifestations.
Does the aim of mythology match the aim of our flying objects? And perhaps more subtle than any association we can conjure on a gross level like time machines, perhaps we are dealing with a future defined on a comparable basis with our state of evolution, or a future state both evolutionary, and accelerated beyond our own in terms of both being and knowledge.
This raises an interesting possibility entirely overlooked, perhaps some of our species has evolved quite beyond our current state. Not that they look any different from us but in certain aspects, they may have an entirely different set of gifts as well as perspectives from our own. While this is a possibility, in this business, it is never safe to assume anything.

Another aspect of this mythology which is it's most important attribute for our purpose, is that it integrates the natural and supernatural in a cohesive theology for absorption within the unofficial sphere of popular culture. Considering this, perhaps the paranormal aspect of this phenomenon which has been the revisiting of our place within the larger sphere of the universe as well as hypothetical intent and culture of an extraterrestrial race, could be the churning locus of it's purpose.
If so, it has certainly succeeded beyond anyone's expectation if you had considered this possibility prior to it's advent. It has bypassed every cultural institution from religion to science without so much as one faint acknowledgement from them. Quite a accomplishment in an unprecedented era of material, empirical science.
Another defacto and indirect conclusion one can easily reach is that the jar which contains the most fundamental answers to our most important questions is not only empty but the roaring silence of meaning, value, sacredness and purpose is overly ripe for revision as well as reconstitution.

"Once we see that this is so, we begin to think of what can come in from another source than our own culture. There is a whole branch of interest in the world now concerning aliens, including alien abductions, which started from the early days of UFO sightings and so on. Another branch focuses on angels, and you have the channelers and all those people. And there is the third kind that's to do with secrets hidden in monasteries, or ancient manuscripts. They are all realizing in their own particular way the same basic principle that, in order to get the 'oomph' to make a step in yourself, to break free of this cycle of conditioning in your culture, you need an input from outside the culture of a different order. Without that it is unlikely, though not impossible, that the step is made."

If as I suspect, a new mythology or even perhaps new paradigms are the intentional product of a very astute and extremely knowledgable source, they are also profoundly aware of our species psychology. Consider this as well... the insertion of mythology as an embodiment of a transpersonal reality fit to human size also has a profound impact on effective behavior in a species. If you could ask any number of common folk among the Greek, Egyptian or Roman civilisations...their testimony might surprise us.

"The first function of mythology is to waken and maintain in the individual a sense of wonder and participation in the mystery of this finally inscrutable universe..." The second function....is to fill every particle and quarter of the current cosmological image with its measure of this mystical import... a third function, no less important, is the sociological one of validating and maintaining whatever moral system and manner of life-customs may be peculiar to the local culture.... A fourth, and final essential function of mythologies is the pedagogical one of conducting individuals in harmony through the passages of human life...".
-Joesph Cambell

So is this a projection flowing whose images are flowing in reverse, a influencing factor perhaps laying the preparatory groundwork for the emergence of a new mythology whose meaning and interpenetration into our "holons" of cultural values is a work in progress?

If you are unfamiliar with the term holon, I suggest that it will be well worth your effort if you are interested in the topic at hand.... use this link;

One could consider the various sociological manifestations as reactions to this phenomenon already, as seen in the light of day, perhaps myths are already among us. The myth of The Grey (Exploitation), the myth of Invasion (War), the myth of Planetary Saviors(Nature)...all of which are conceptualisations of what Campell referred to as "the sociological one of validating and maintaining whatever moral system and manner of life-customs may be peculiar to the local culture.... " The value of some pre-existing myths have been enhanced such as the Trickster and perhaps Hermes as well. Another deconstructive revision underway is the mythology of institutions such as democracy, freedom of information as well as the myth of the omnipotent capability of nation states to either defend or comprehend the nature of this phenomenon.

Consider with me that perhaps this process of emerging conceptual mythologies created by this induction of phenomenon could also be the point of the exercise in a extremely subtle psychological dynamic, either to test the water, to conduct a ongoing statistical evaluation, to conduct an alchemical influence upon the subconscious...the list goes on...does it not? Perhaps there is no direct empirical purpose to this phenomenon as we currently recognise, or identify or associate with it. The insertion by demonstration of a transcendant of a phenomenon that expands the potentiality of possibility is perhaps a tact.
"Tremendous energy is locked up in these old programs or what Jung called "autonomous complexes." You can release this energy if you get enough distance from your emotional involvement in the programs..."
-John C Lilly
One interesting aspect in all this is that this phenomenon has also escaped the boundaries of language much like quantum mechcanics as in that situation, we find a situation of a phenomenon that suddenly hits the wall of conceptual modeling as encapsulated or frozen in language at 200 miles an hour. Perhaps another possibility is the fragmentation and dissolution of conceptual modeling in terms of language, perhaps in the manner Dr Lilly observed. Interestingly, physics at the same time was experiencing this same phenomenon of entrapment.

"I will say that for us, that is for Bohr and myself, the most important step was to see that our language is not sufficient to describe the situation. A word such as path is quite understandable in the ordinary realm of physics when we are dealing with stones, or grass, etc., but it is not really understandable when it has to do with electrons. In a cloud chamber, for instance, what we see is not the path of an electron, but, if we are quite honest, only a sequence of water droplets in the chamber. Of course we like to interpret this sequence as a path of the electron, but this interpretation is only possible with restricted use of such words as position and velocity. So the decisive step was to see that all those words we used in classical physics - position, velocity, energy, temperature, etc. - have only a limited range of applicability.
The point is we are bound up with a language, we are hanging in the language. If we want to do physics, we must describe our experiments and the results to other physicists, so that they can be verified or checked by others. At the same time, we know that the words we use to describe the experiments have only a limited range of applicability. That is a fundamental paradox which we have to confront. We cannot avoid it; we have simply to cope with it, to find what is the best thing we can do about it..."
-Heisenburg

Could this phenomenon be a projected quantum manipulation akin to a Tulpa? One of many forgotten yet remarkable women who explored what we would call the paranormal was Alexandra David-Néel, who experienced this phenomenon first hand.

What is it? Simply put, it is also known as a thought form. According to Wikipedia, for those who are unfamiliar with this term; "Thoughtform may be understood as a 'psychospiritual' complex of energy or consciousness manifested either consciously or unconsciously, by an individual or a group. Thoughtform are understood differently and take on different forms in different traditions. ..."

David-Neel became so interested in the concept that she decided to try to create one.
The method involved was essentially intense concentration and visualization. "David-Neel's tulpa began its existence as a plump, benign little monk, similar to Friar Tuck. It was at first entirely subjective, but gradually, with practice, she was able to visualize the tulpa out there, like an imaginary ghost flitting about the real world. In time the vision grew in clarity and substance until it was indistinguishable from physical reality-a sort of self-induced hallucination. But the day came when the hallucination slipped from her conscious control. She discovered that the monk would appear from time to time when she had not willed it. Furthermore her friendly little figure was slimming down and taking on a distinctly sinister aspect. Eventually her companions, who where unaware of the mental disciplines she was practicing, began to ask about the "stranger" who had turned up in their camp-a clear indication that a creature which was no more that solidified imagination had definite objective reality. At this point, David-Neel decided things had gone too far and applied different lamaist techniques to reabsorb the creature into her own mind. The tulpa proved very unwillling to face destruction in this way so that the process took several weeks and left its creator exhausted."
-Excerpt from Body, Mind, Spirit

In Sufi literature, this phenomenon is also present in so many historical records of feats of apparent bilocality, of projecting thought etc, that one could write several volumes just on these events themselves. So we must ask ourselves once more that perhaps as the ufo phenomenon is certainly paranormal in the sense that it transcends our neat categorisation of material reality, are we being too hasty in making a critical assumption that these events have been prompted by another species who originate outside of the boundaries of our planetary sphere? An assumption is an assumption, nothing more or less substantial than again, a possibility which has nothing to do with the foibles of popular consensus, or for that matter, our inability to wrestle down a ghost.

More interesting than these accounts of what could be termed quantum phenomenon before quantum theory was "discovered" by traditional science, is to ask the question which is the aim of this post. If we made the theoretical leap that there is a possibility that the energy of consciousness can be harnessed and manipulated by an individual, one can only stand back in obvious awe of..if several individuals if not a large group concentrated their efforts in a common aim toward the reintroduction of myth, of a trans personal reality of the sacred, the mystical as an preparatory antidote to our current dilemma..and of course, further aims as well.
Some of you familiar with my earlier posts will recall The Fifty, that number of human beings of a certain type who could certainly influence our species. This number and this myth pervades many cultures, many epochs, many religions and many traditions. Ask yourself, is it all a coincidence reoccuring over the centuries?
If you are unfamiliar with this concept, here is a link.
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/hamlets_mill/hamletmill.htm
I assure you that I have found many more references to them beyond this tome.
This will be the subject of the next post...could such a group exist? If so, is there any evidence to consider this possibility? And also, perhaps this extraordinary possibility of human manipulation of quantum reality as an understandably hidden capability, could it also be a fallible one? Could something go terribly wrong?

As David Bohm set as his quest "that in my scientific and philosophical work, my main concern has been with understanding the nature of reality in general and of consciousness in particular as a coherent whole, which is never static or complete but which is an unending process of movement and unfoldment...."
(David Bohm: Wholeness and the Implicate Order)

Indeed.
